MARK SPIZ
Mark Andrew Spitz (* February 10, 1950 in Modesto, California) is an American swimmer who won seven gold medals at the 1972 Munich Olympics, breaking world record in each of his victories, becoming the first athlete in history Olympic Games to get the feat in a single edition (up to Beijing 2008, which was surpassed by fellow American swimmer Michael Phelps). Despite the success achieved with only 22 years decided to retire to work in real estate. It is considered one of the greatest Olympians of all time.
Thanks to his father Arnold, learned to swim two years while living in Hawaii. He studied at Indiana University.

It was one of the biggest stars of the 1972 Munich Olympics, when you get to earn as much in 5000 as 10,000 m. Also in the 10,000 m world record-breaking in an epic race 27:38,4 when he suffered a misstep and fell when he was on lap 12, and still got up getting the victory and the record.
It was the fourth athlete in history to win both events at the Olympic Games, after Hannes Kolehmainen in 1912, Emil Zátopek Vladimir Kuts in 1952 and 1956.
A few weeks after the Games in Helsinki established a new world record in the 5,000 m with 13:16,4.
In subsequent years the level low enough, not getting close to their previous records. In the European Championships of Rome 1974 could only win the bronze medal in the 5,000 m be 7 th in the 10,000 m.
